REEDMAKING HOW TO: Andante e Rondo/New Italian Style Bassoon Reed Forming Tutorial Video (Part 1)

This is a video over how to form reeds in the New Italian Style (AKA: Versiglia style, Andante e Rondo style, or two wire reeds). I made this video as a resource for my students at Oklahoma State University, but since there is very little information regarding this style, I decided to make this video public. In this video, I go from a piece of GSP cane to an unwrapped blank. Please keep in mind that this is how I am currently making reeds. There are slight deviations that I make compared to Giorgio's method that I learned in 2018 to help with my current setup. I address these alterations in the video. 0:00 - Introduction/Tools Needed 2:37 - Beveling 4:47 - Blade Beveling 6:23 - Soaking Cane 7:02 - Wire No. 1 10:23 - Initial Scoring 13:29 - Explanation of Andante e Rondo Forming Mandrel and Tool Alternatives 15:39 - Using the Forming Mandrel 17:11 - Final Scoring 17:44 - Using the Standard Andante e Rondo Mandrel 18:14 - Putting on the Bottom Wire
