Johnson's new film started as a project to finally get his old surf movies online and became a documentary tracing his path from surfer to filmmaker to musician. In the film, he digs through four-track tapes from his dorm room, revisits the surfing accident that left him hiding out with a guitar, and reflects on his decades-long love story with his wife.
