Split is the largest city in Dalmatia, and the second largest city in Croatia in terms of population, and represents the economic and cultural center of Dalmatia. It is located on the central part of the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, bounded by the Kaštela Bay from the west and north, and the Brač Channel from the south, and spatially covers the greater part of the Split peninsula, which connects to the mainland on its northern and eastern sides.
