3D Model Your Own Magnetic Fidget Slider in 30 Minutes
In this video I go over the steps of creating a 3D model you can print to make your own magnetic fidget slider. It's created in a way where you can modify its dimensions to fit the disc magnets you have. I was using 6x1.2mm magnets. [1:47] The 3D modelling tool -- Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/) [3:37] Recommended magnet size (6-8mm wide, 1.5-2mm thick) [4:53] Creating the 3D Design file [7:56] Creating the base [21:27] Carving out the cavity for the cover [23:44] Carving out the holes for the magnets [30:23] Fitting the plain cover [31:25] Exporting to .stl files for 3D printing Here is the story: I had to buy some magnets for another project but the only rational option I had (size, time, price) was to get 130 of those. I only needed 16 so I was left with 100+ magnets. So I looked for something I want to make and here it is. These fidget toys sell for around $10 each but if you have access to the tools it probably costs about $2. There are several free 3D models available but they were made to the size of the magnets of their creator. So if you already have the magnets they likely won't work -- hence this video, which allows you to create your own 3D model for free.
