PDP president Mehbooba Mufti accused the BJP of politicising the legacy of the 1931 martyrs by portraying it as a Hindu-Muslim and regional issue. Condemning restrictions around the Martyrs' Graveyard at Naqshband Sahib and claiming she had been placed under house arrest, she said the sacrifices of those killed in 1931 awakened the people of Kashmir and laid the foundation for democratic rule, adding that their place in the region's history could never be erased.
