The name Khayelitsha is Xhosa which means New Home, it is reputed to be the largest and fastest-growing township in South Africa. Khayelitsha is a township in Western Cape, South Africa, the township lies some 19km east of Wynberg and 25 km in southeast of the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality. It consists of a minimum of 22 separate settlements. It has the largest single concentration of informal settlements in the city many of which are located on land that is unsuitable for housing as a result of flooding.
