Even before the Trier ADAC / RTT hill climb became part of the FiA European Hill Climb Championship, the Fell-Thommen hill climb was used to compete for points in the 1987 ONS German Automobile Hill Climb Championship. At the start was a large field of Group C3 sports cars and a lot of Formula 3 and Formula 2 racing cars, including the Swiss Fredy Amweg.
