DEC SUPPORT VISIT TO LEKOA PRESBYTERY FELLOWSHIP OF WOMEN
Lekoa Presbytery DEC Support Visit Opening Message: “The Night is Coming – Work While It is Day” Scripture Reading: John 9:1- 8 (4 The DEC Support Visit to Lekoa Presbytery was meaningfully opened by the Moderator, who delivered a powerful and timely message to the Fellowship of Women. Grounded in John 9:4, the message reminded all present of the urgency and responsibility we carry as believers. The Moderator began with a heartfelt prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to guide his words so that the message would not be of human origin, but aligned with God’s will. He also prayed for spiritual understanding among those gathered, that the message would be received beyond the natural ear. A Call to Act While There is Time Drawing from the words, “The night is coming when no one can work,” the Moderator emphasised that time is limited. As believers, we are called to make use of the present moment to do God’s work. The “night” symbolises a time when opportunities will no longer be available, and the chance to act will have passed. The congregation was encouraged not to delay or become passive, but to act now with purpose and commitment. A Reminder of Accountability A strong reminder was given that each of us will one day give an account of how we used the time and responsibilities entrusted to us. The Moderator challenged the Fellowship to reflect on their role and to ensure that, at the end, they can confidently show what has been accomplished. Supporting God’s Chosen Leaders The message also highlighted the importance of supporting the leaders who have been chosen to serve. The Moderator urged the congregation to stand behind their leadership while there is still time, noting that missed opportunities cannot be recovered once time has passed. Be the Light While It is Still Day Using a relatable example, the Moderator referred to how electricity can be switched off unexpectedly. In the same way, believers are called to be the light in the world—now, before darkness comes. This is a call to live out our faith actively and visibly within our communities. Focus on the Work, Not Blame Reflecting on the broader message of John 9, the Moderator cautioned against the tendency to judge or assign blame. Instead, the focus should remain on doing the work of God faithfully and compassionately. A Call to Purposeful Service The Fellowship was reminded that we are not gathered to be spectators, but to serve. Every member has a role to play, and every effort counts. The call is to use the time wisely, work diligently, and remain committed to God’s mission. Dependence on God’s Strength In closing, the Moderator emphasised the need for God’s strength and guidance. It is only through His power that we are able to fulfil our calling and remain faithful in our service. Final Encouragement The message concluded with a powerful and memorable reminder: “The night is coming. Let us work while it is still day.”
