MOBILHEIM KOLBE GmbH Managing Director: Michael Johannes Kolbe Berliner Str. 19 16727 Velten Phone: +49 152 5295 3000 Email: [email protected] https://mobilheim-kolbe.de Today we're taking a look at a very special tiny house, or modular home, that demonstrates just how much living comfort is possible in a compact space. This Moonlight model surprises with an exceptional floor plan that differs significantly from many classic tiny houses. Instead of focusing solely on one huge open-plan living area, this house was designed with several separate rooms, offering entirely new possibilities. Whether as a fully-fledged home, vacation home, office building, guest house, or even a small company building with multiple workstations – this concept shows just how flexible modern modular homes have become. Together with Michael, we'll visit the production facility and discover many exciting details that you wouldn't expect at first glance. This particular version of the Moonlight has been specially adapted. The glass facade was extended further outwards, creating additional space in the living area. At the same time, the floor plan retains its major advantage: several separate rooms within a compact footprint. This layout is particularly appealing for those who want to combine working from home, working, and living. Instead of just one open space, it offers the potential for three or even more offices, bedrooms, or hobby rooms. This flexibility is precisely what makes the house so attractive for different lifestyles. Large windows create a bright and airy atmosphere, more commonly found in modern architect-designed homes. The deep-set windows bring in plenty of natural light and visually connect the living space with its surroundings. The interior features also quickly reveal that this isn't just a small house, but a completely thought-out living concept. The kitchen offers everything you would expect in a typical apartment: a large refrigerator-freezer, sink, dishwasher, and a modern oven with a microwave function and no traditional turntable. In addition, there's air conditioning, underfloor heating, and an active heat exchanger. This makes the house suitable not only for summer but for year-round living. Practical considerations were also taken into account: The entrance area offers space for a washing machine, wardrobe, storage, and technical equipment. Especially in small living spaces, this planning is crucial for a house to truly function in everyday life. The various uses of the individual rooms are particularly appealing. The largest room can be used as a classic bedroom with furniture, but equally well as a large office or study. Window positions and room layouts can also be customized. For example, those who want more light can choose larger windows or even floor-to-ceiling windows. Those who need more floor space can opt for smaller windows. This individualization is one of the major advantages of modern modular homes. The furnishings can also be adapted. Whether it's an existing bed, a piece of furniture you own, or special furnishings – many areas can be designed according to personal preferences. Another highlight is the bathroom. Despite the compact design, it features a large shower (approximately 90 x 90 cm), modern surfaces, and a high-quality sink. The materials used have the look of classic tiles but are significantly more practical for this type of construction. Various options are also available for hot water. For example, large boiler solutions or modern systems combined with photovoltaics and efficient energy technology can be installed. This makes the topic of energy independence increasingly attractive. Large solar arrays with several kilowatts of power are possible and, in conjunction with battery storage, can ensure that such a house generates a large portion of its own electricity needs. In the video, we also discuss the possibilities for making such a house even more independent. From photovoltaics and storage solutions to alternative toilet systems such as composting or incinerating toilets, there are many ways to make a modular home more self-sufficient. Some users want conventional connections like in a regular house, while others want to be as freestanding and independent as possible. It is precisely this flexibility that makes modern tiny houses and modular homes so appealing.
