Hawk one-way clutches seem to have relatively little slippage, don't they? The design is an old-fashioned three-prong roller type, so it's not particularly sturdy. Furthermore, since the entire one-way clutch is mounted inside the crankcase, maintenance requires opening the crankcase. If you do crack the crankcase, we recommend replacing the rollers and springs with new ones as a precaution. *As of May 2021, the rollers, springs, and plungers are all genuine parts provided by Honda. We'll explain the assembly part, but it's essential to thoroughly degrease the mounting bolts and apply thread locking agent! This may be unnecessary knowledge, but for any riders currently experiencing one-way clutch slippage, please take note. Mechanically, this is a problem with the meshing of the roller and ring gear, so if it has just started to slip, you can lightly press the starter button to slightly shift the meshing and somehow get it to start.
