Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt was booed by students at the University of Arizona during a graduation ceremony when he spoke about AI – and a US survey also shows that negative feelings toward AI have intensified among Gen Z: 31 percent of the young people surveyed are angry about AI, and 42 percent are afraid of it. But it's not just Gen Z who are worried. Warning voices are also coming from the Pope, from the scientific community – such as AI pioneer Stuart Russell and historian Yuval Noah Harari – as well as from AI companies themselves. How justified are these concerns? Do we have AI development under control? Anne Will discusses this in this episode with AI scientist Aljoscha Burchardt. He is a Principal Researcher and Deputy Site Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Berlin. He has also advised the German Bundestag on AI issues. Together, they consider why young people's anger toward AI is growing, how our working world will change as a result of AI, and what dangers, but also opportunities, AI holds for the future.
