We are introducing three schools in the prefecture that will represent Kyushu at the National Wind Band Competition to be held in Nagoya at the end of October. This time, we are introducing Shoyo High School in Kagoshima City, which will be participating in the national competition for the seventh time. On October 18th, the Shoyo High School Wind Band held a send-off concert for the third-year students in preparation for their participation in the national competition. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to practice, the band performed in front of an audience for the first time in a while and produced a smooth sound. Two weeks until the national competition, the band spent time practicing basics as usual. Make a good sound. Play a good sound. They repeat the basics, such as long tones, which are long tones. Another thing they value is discussion. Club members share their issues with each other and improve themselves, which is also the Shoyo style. They will perform a performance that combines the basics they have accumulated and their feelings, and will make the Shoyo sound resonate on the national stage.
