Fixing a Kohler Recoil Starter. 6, 7, or 8 hp. K141, K161, K181
In this video I take a Kohler recoil starter apart, fix what's wrong with it, and put it back together. This starter had a lot of problems, so I cover a lot of fixes. There was a broken spring that I fixed, worn clutch that I adjusted, and a big groove worn in the rope hole that I made a new bushing for. There was a missing spring, I made one from a longer spring I had. I replace the rope and show how to wind the spring to increase pressure. And at the end I talk about why that little spring is in there. After all that I have a nice working recoil starter.
