Labour is facing fresh anger after claims another 10,000 asylum seekers could be moved into houses, flats and bedsits across London, the South and Wales. Evidence given to MPs suggests migrant accommodation firms want to push even harder into local communities, with some sites potentially split between asylum seekers and social housing tenants. Critics say the move will pile even more pressure on already stretched areas and deepen fears that Britain is turning into “HMO Britain”. The row is likely to fuel a major backlash over immigration, housing and whether local people are being pushed aside yet again.
