Pt. Devendra Murdeshwar - Purya Kalyan, Jhinjhoti, Jaijaivanti, Malkauns, Darbari
This is the full three hour concert from when he toured the USA and Canada in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Pt. Devendra Murdehswar moved to Mumbai to study tabla with Ustad Amir Hussain Khan. While there, he heard Pandit Pannalal Ghosh, a disciple of Ustad Allauddin Khan, on bansuri (bamboo flute) and decided to switch from tabla to bansuri and began learning from Pandit Ghosh. He later became Pandit Ghosh's son-in-law. He was a skilled craftsman who created many of the concert-quality bamboo flutes that Pandit Ghosh and others played. Tabla accompaniment is provided by Pandit Gourang Kodikal, a disciple of Pt. Shashi Bellare and Ustad Sheik Dawood. Gourang-ji also happens to be the father-in-law of Pandit Yogesh Samsi.
