Corta-Jaca (sometimes known as 'Gaúcho') is one of the earliest Brazilian tangos to be published and Chiquinha Gonzaga's most recorded song - the title translates as 'cutting the jackfruit'. Originally published in 1895, it is performed frequently as a solo piece or in ensembles drawn from the Brazilian tradition, featuring guitars, flutes and strings.
