Hello, my construction friends! Today I'm finally pouring my concrete blind area, and it was a real construction nightmare :) I hope this video is helpful! Andrey Shaiter on how to saw without dust:    • Пилим без пыли! Шайтер Андрей!   KEY POINTS: 1. Slope: 2-3 cm per meter 2. Concrete thickness: 10 cm, width: 1.25 m, area: 60 m2, material cost: about 50,000 rubles 3. Concrete: M250. There are plasticizers that allow you to pour the concrete blind area even in sub-zero temperatures! 4. Do not tie the concrete blind area to the foundation! They are two independent structures. 5. The main purpose of the concrete blind area is to drain water away from the foundation. 6. For some foundations, I highly recommend insulating the concrete blind area. For example, for a shallow foundation, a foundation slab, or an already cracked foundation, if the basement walls are not fully insulated. 7. Frost heave occurs in heaving soils such as clay, earth, etc., when water hits them and freezes. This soil expands and pushes the foundation out of the ground. This can lead to its collapse. To prevent this, you can replace the soil with non-heaving soil (sand, crushed stone), divert the water (waterproofing), and reduce the frost penetration depth (insulate with 50 mm of foam plastic). 8. Pour the concrete in the morning; then you'll definitely have time before dark. 9. Invite more friends. It was quite challenging with just two people. We finished in 4 hours. 10. Consider approaching the concrete mixer from different corners of the house. It was a good idea to split the concrete delivery into two. The mixer didn't fall through, and we managed to move the concrete around. 11. The width of the blind area should be wider than the roof overhangs. 12. The thickness of the insulation may vary depending on the region where you live. 13. It's better to pull the guides at the end by the hangers and push a damper into the gap, and seal the corner with sealant. Just wait until they dry. ;) 14. Please share your tips; they'll be useful for DIYers! 15. To prevent water from getting under the blind area, the tooth is in the ground, not in the sand. In addition, the end should be covered with clay and compacted.
