This morning, the first journey departed from Naples Garibaldi Station, with Trenitalia's Director of High-Speed ​​Operations, Simone Gorini, on board: "We are launching this new Frecciarossa service between Naples, Bari, and Lecce. Travel times between Naples and Bari will be three and a half hours, a significant improvement in travel time and comfort. We launched this new phase thanks to the activation of the Cancello bypass. There will be further activations in the coming years, certainly with the potential to make the connection between Naples and Salento even faster." This connection, as Director Gorini emphasized, is made possible by the activation of the Naples-Cancello section, which is being carried out by Webuild on behalf of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. Upon arrival at Bari station, the ceremony took place, introduced by Giuseppe Inchingolo, Chief Corporate Affairs, Communication & Sustainability Officer of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane: "These first 55 kilometers of the Naples-Bari line, inaugurated today, are just the first steps. When the entire Naples-Bari line is completed, we will have a connection in just two hours and a connection between Bari and Rome in three hours." The inaugural ceremony was attended by the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, the mayor of Bari, Vito Leccese, and the mayor of Lecce, Adriana Poli Bortone.
