The bustling streets of Rawalpindi are overflowing with the atmosphere of everyday life. From a cup of Chai offered by a street rickshaw driver to people who smile unhesitatingly even at strangers, you encounter the uniquely warm hospitality of Pakistan. Start your day with a hearty breakfast of Halwa Puri, a typical Punjabi breakfast, at a long-standing establishment that opened in 1948 and remains beloved to this day. Your steps then lead you to Lahore, the city of history and culture. Ravi Road, the logistics hub of the north, is brimming with energy, as if you can hear the city's heartbeat. Amidst the streets where large trucks and people mingle, the most striking feature is the dazzlingly decorated cargo trucks. Responsible for the majority of the nation's logistics, Pakistan's trucks serve as both home and workplace for their drivers. We take a look at their unique truck art and even the sleeping areas set up here and there inside the vehicles. 2. Very Special Days: Lahore & Qasr ( 00:25:23 ~ 00:55:46 ) Lahore, which preserves a glorious history, is the capital of Punjab and is home to the legacy of the Mughal Empire and a vibrant market culture. The journey begins at Delhi Gate, the symbol of the old city. It is a city gate built during the era of Mughal Emperor Akbar and expanded through various dynasties. The alleys inside the gate, which are usually bustling, have a distinctly different atmosphere because Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, has begun. During Ramadan, which lasts for a month, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking while the sun is up. Even the food alley, which is usually crowded every day, is quiet, except for the shops selling Drumstick Kachori, a dish limited to Ramadan. Drumstick Khachori is the menu for Iftar, the afternoon meal that begins after the fast, and Shehri, the early morning meal. Haveli Restaurant is considered a famous spot for Iftar. This is because one can dine while facing the mystical beauty of the Badshahi Mosque, a representative Mughal-era architectural masterpiece. Those who are unable to visit a restaurant or wish to enjoy Iftar more reverently head to mosques in the city. Mosques located near Mozang Bazaar provide free Iftar food. 3. Hunza When Apricot Blossoms Bloom ( 00:55:46 ~ 01:22:33 ) We head to Hunza, a valley deep within the Karakoram Mountains in northern Pakistan, where spring settles most beautifully. Apricot blossoms bloom profusely in every village beneath the snow-capped mountains, and the snow-covered peaks harmonize with the pink petals to create a picturesque landscape. Aliabad, the central village of Hunza, is a small town where the lives of the valley people converge. Sun-dried fruits are piled high in every street shop. Apricots, cherries, walnuts, almonds, and even mulberries are precious delicacies created by the clear sunshine of the high altitudes. Hunza is also known as a land of longevity. An elderly man sitting by the roadside enjoying the sunshine cites Hunza Water as the secret to his health. Cold, clear water flowing down from glaciers and mountainous regions serves as a source of life, circulating throughout the entire village of Hunza. When the water, which had been stagnant throughout the winter, begins to flow again, the people of Hunza head to the high mountain paths behind the villages to clean the waterways and maintain the sluice gates and reservoirs. I visited a Hunza family home at the invitation of Mr. Didar, whom I met at the cliff waterway. Three generations live in this barren yet fertile land, cultivating crops such as potatoes and apricots. I merely helped a little with the spring field work, but I was returned with the gift of a heartfelt home-cooked meal and the warmth of the family. In Hunza, known for its generous hospitality and strong sense of community, residents gather together to prepare Iftar meals during Ramadan. They cook lamb dishes together in an outdoor kitchen, while bringing side dishes from their homes to set the table. The end of the journey through the Hunza Valley is Attabad Lake, a turquoise waterway. It was formed in 2010 when a massive landslide blocked the Hunza River. It is a lake that has overcome disaster and is now cherished as a famous attraction. I walk along the Baskochi Meadows hike, a hidden gem of a trail in Attabad. I quietly reflect on the dazzling scenery and the warm smiles of the people I encountered in Hunza. 4. Encountering Two Seasons ( 01:22:33 ~ 01:52:12 ) The final leg of the journey takes us into the vast nature of Northern Pakistan. It is a dramatic landscape where different seasons coexist, with flowers blooming in the valleys and snow piled high beyond the mountain passes.
