Thank you." "OK." 14. Man with shotgun in bow of boat STORYLINE: Some wanted out, others say they want to stay, as a rescue boat went up and down the streets of the 7th Ward in East New Orleans on Monday. Small clusters of family members clung together to what remains of their homes. Even those that have illnesses such as diabetes refused the opportunity to leave their homes. One woman demanded that people on the boat bring her food and water, she wasn't going to leave her house of sixty years. Others waded through the water, refusing to leave. Surviving has become a challenge. Still others welcomed the rescue effort. Edward Singleton gladly took a boat ride from the front door of his home to some dry land near a pick up point. He'd been stranded in downtown New Orleans since last Sunday and had to get home because he needed some clean clothes. Others simply sat out on their front porches and watched as boats went by searching for survivors who wanted to be rescued.
