“There’s something different about this one!” | Taylor Guitars | Gold Label Grand Pacific
“There’s something different about this one,” says Trey Hensley. The fiery flatpicker is a Nashville mainstay, and few players know their way around an acoustic guitar like him. After twenty years of playing, he says, you know pretty much right away whether or not a guitar is for you. And leading up to the release of Taylor’s new Gold Label Grand Pacific guitars, we had a strong hunch Trey would take a shine to them. Built on the blueprint of our Grand Pacific round-shoulder dreadnought body shape, the new Gold Label 517e and Gold Label 717e continue to challenge what players think of as the Taylor sound. These guitars continue the heritage sound introduced with the Super Auditorium guitars that launched the Gold Label Collection earlier this year, combining new body designs with a long-tenon neck joint and a fanned version of our V-Class interior bracing to produce an exceptionally warm, open, powerful voice reminiscent of the sound that first made listeners and players alike fall in love with acoustic guitars. For the Gold Label 517e and Gold Label 717e, we’ve developed a variant of our Grand Pacific dreadnought that’s ⅜-inch deeper than its standard counterpart, creating a larger air chamber that yields remarkable depth and low-end presence. The Gold Label 517e features solid mahogany for a punchy midrange focus, while the Gold Label 717e boasts Indian rosewood back and sides that serve up lush, blooming overtones. Both models are topped with torrefied spruce, adding a dash of played-in sweetness to cap off the old-school vibes. Available in natural, sunburst and blacktop finishes, these guitars sport classic aesthetics to match their throwback tone. Trey joined us at SoundCheck Nashville to play the Gold Label 517e. You’ll find both models at authorized Taylor dealers everywhere this summer.
