Aerial Images Released Showing Severe Landslide in Chongqing; Nine Rescued, Search Continues for Missing Chongqing, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Nine people have been rescued from a landslide on the banks of the Wujiang River in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, southwest China, following heavy rains. All are unharmed. The geological disaster struck at 9:08 a.m. local time on Friday (July 17), sending a massive landslide of rock and soil burying more than 10 residential buildings. Several people are trapped and missing, and local emergency teams are conducting a full-scale search and rescue operation. China Anneng Construction Group, a state engineering rescue force, has deployed a team of 110 professional rescuers, including engineering and geological experts, along with 50 sets of search and rescue equipment, to the site for relief operations. Rescue teams revealed that a landslide buried three power poles, causing a power outage in the affected area. The local power authority has deployed a team of 53 maintenance technicians, 12 repair vehicles, and one emergency power vehicle to the area to handle the emergency.
