A tour of my Plamondon style chicken tractor

This is my 3rd year raising chickens in a chicken tractor. I've recently gotten a lot of questions about how I do things, so I thought I'd make a video to explain everything. The original design came from Robert Plamondon (http://www.plamondon.com) and I got it from Darby Simpson (http://www.darbysimpson.com) at the Midwest Sustainability Conference back in 2013 and have made some improvements along the way, some of which didn't work (like the wheels). I move it every day with a two wheel cart to make sure the manure doesn't get too concentrated on the lawn. This first two years I had 60 chickens in this 10'x12' tractor, but this year I have 96, but have lost 3 that didn't move when I moved the tractor (I don't like it, but it happens). This year I fed the birds non-gmo and no-soy feed from HDfeeds (hd-feeds.com), which was quite a drive, but cheaper in bulk than what I've done in the past and I like that it's soy-free. The fencing is from Premeir1supplies.com. It's the 12/42/3 poultrynet and it's charged with a PRS-100 solar fence charger. I mention this because the last two years I didn't let the birds out. This year I let them out... I take them to the butcher tonight and I have 7 bags of feed left over, a considerable reduction in the amount of feed they went through! Tomorrow I'll know the weight of the birds, so I'll be able to be able to fully comment on how much they truly benefited from being let out at that point.
