Port Wakefield Circuit
The Port Wakefield Circuit found just outside Port Wakefield was just the second permanent track created in Australia. Created in 1953 after the South Australian Government banned racing on public roads. A short 2.092km track it hosted the Australian Grand Prix in 1955, won by Jack Brabham, his first of three. The track was abandoned in 1961 as it was not found suitable to host the 1961 Australian Grand Prix and was replaced with Mallala Motorsport Park. It is now slowly being lost to the Salt Bush.
