Nirvana - Live in Rennes, Salle Omnisports, 16/2/1994 [Remaster]

Two days after Paris, Nirvana travel to Rennes to play the Salle Omnisports, a venue they visited previously in 1991. The band are much looser here, and I mean that in a good way. The My Sharona Radio Friendly Unit Shifter before straight up going into My Sharona sets the tone for the whole show. Kurt is more chatty tonight, which is always a positive as you rarely ever hear him speak during the In-Utero tour (he speaks less and less as Nirvana continues looking at the whole picture). After In Bloom, he teases the audience that Paris was a better audience, but let's the crowd know that they were a better audience later in the show. Another tell that Kurt is having fun would be the inclusion of Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle and Sappy. Kurt asks Krist if he wants to stay in E, meaning they were most likely going to continue without those songs. Speaking of, Sappy makes an extremely rare appearance. He flubs the lyrics slightly but overall it's a great rendition. One of the more haunting songs from Nirvana's collection of songs that never really seemed to fit right in any era until now. Sappy began back in 1989 but was never released. An unreleased gem until it was eventually released in the deluxe editions of Nevermind and In-Utero. I think Sappy and You Know You're Right were early tellings on where the band was heading before everything fell apart, but based on what's going on behind the scenes, I find it hard to believe the band would record another record together. Heart-Shaped Box is a prenominal ending to a show. I love the intro and the distorted outro it has. The title says 'remaster.' It's not an impressive remaster, but I would say I've modified the audio enough for it to be vastly different from what it originally was. I think this is a decent attempt to recreate the show using my admittedly limited abilities. By no means is this the definitive version. I think someone more skilled than myself can do a better job.
