250 2 STROKE VS. 250 4 STROKE

Two stroke versus four stroke is the oldest argument in dirt biking. 2 stroke riders would have you believe that 2Ts are much lighter, and much faster… however 4 strokes tend to be quicker around a circuit. So what gives? Well, I wondered if after 15 years of 4Ts being the favoured engine type for motocross racing, their rigorous development had caught them up with what undoubtably used to be the cream of dirt bike the crop. So myself and my mate Kynan, set up a drag strip on the Lake Station farm in New Zealand (no idea how long it was btw) and raced his 2020 Husqvarna TE250i (2 stroke) against my 2021 Yamaha WR250F (4 stroke) four times, then we swapped over and did it again on each other’s bikes to hopefully try and settle for once and for all, what’s faster… 2 stroke or 4 stroke?
