Wild Camping Scotland | Loch Kayak Camp

Wild Camping Scotland doesn’t always go to plan. This kayak camping Scotland adventure quickly turns into a challenge with heavy rain, midges, and a failed tarpaulin shelter setup on a sandy beach. I paddle my kayak to a remote lochside camping spot, carrying my Otimos Nomad 1 tent and camping gear for an overnight adventure. The original plan was a peaceful wild camping Scotland trip with incredible views, but the weather and conditions had other ideas. The wind and rain made setting up the tarp almost impossible, and the sandy beach soon became a nightmare with wet sand getting everywhere. With the midges becoming unbearable, I seriously considered packing up and heading home. Despite the struggle, I continue exploring by kayak and visit the ruins of the old Stuck farmhouse, before finding shelter under a tree where I manage to have a small campfire while waiting for the weather to improve. Eventually the rain eases, allowing me to move closer to the tent for the final hour before another wet night begins. The midges even make their way into the tent as I settle down. A miserable camp? Maybe. But it’s still another night outdoors in Scotland. A wet morning pack-up and return to the car brings this wild camping adventure to an end. #camping #scotland #WildCampingScotland #KayakCamping #CampingFail #RainCamping #Scotland #WildCamp #OutdoorAdventure #CampingScotland If you can spare a few £'s please consider buying me a beer.
