I think we should have a little chat about blocks because sometimes you throw yourself into using them, and trying to make sense of them, and trying to draft them, without understanding how they work in the bigger picture of pattern making. Blocks are covered in the Assembil book How Patterns Work but it can help to have someone talk you through the basics, and also some block misconceptions. This video discusses some points to know about blocks and shows you some great pattern making books that include block drafting methods. It also shows you an overview of how you would draft a bodice block, make a toile pattern based on the block, cut it out in calico and sew a toile of a block, ready to test the fit.
