Flamenco chords are relatively simple and almost always use the same chord extensions (i.e., extra notes). Two of the most common extensions are to add the "b2" (a.k.a., the "b9) to a Major chord, the "2" (a.k.a., the "9") to a Minor chord, and the #4 (a.k.a., the "#11) to both Major & Minor chord. BONUS TIPS!! TRY THESE TOO! • Minor chord (add 4) • Major chord (sus4, add b9) • Minor chord (6) • Major chord (6, add #4) • MInor (11) • Major (maj. 7, #11) • Major (add b2, add 4) Here's how to figure it out for any basic major or minor chord: • Step 1: Write down the scale for the chord you are playing. Example: Dm = D - E - F - G - A - Bb - C. • Step 2: Select your 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes from the scale to create your basic chord (i.e., your triad). Example: D - F - A = Dm • Step 3: Select your Spanish/Flamenco extension and add it to your chord. Example: "add 2" or "add 9" = add an "E" which gives us a Dm (add 2) = D - F - A - E
