Climate requirements and soil Sandy loam and clay loam soils with good drainage and organic matter are best suited for cultivation. But it is a crop that can be grown in sandy soils as well as in clay soils. Seed requirement 21 - 23 kg per hectare. Land preparation Roll the ground deep and crush. Source of Information - Department of Agriculture දඹල වගාව........... නිර්දේශිත ප්‍රභේද එස්.එල්.එස්. 44 වසර පුරාම වගාකර සාර්ථක අස්වැන්නක් ලබාගත හැකි වර්ගයකි. මල් සුදු පැහැතිය. කරල් කොල පැහැතිය. කරලක සාමාන්‍ය බර ග්‍රෑම් 15 ක් පමණ වේ. බීජ ක්‍රීම් පැහැතිය ක්‍රිෂ්ණා වසර පුරාම වගාකර ඉහළ අස්වැන්නක් ලබාගත හැකි ප්‍රභේදයකි. මල් දම් පැහැතිය. කරල් දම් පැහැතිය. කරලක දිග සෙන්ටිමීටර් 27 ක් පමණ වේ. පළමු අස්වැන්න නෙලීමට සිටුවා දින 70 ක් පමණ ගත වේ. බීජ තද දම් පැහැතිය. දේශගුණික අවශ්‍යතා සහ පස මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට මීටර් 2000 පමණ උස් වූ ප්‍රදේශ දක්වා වගාකළ හැකි භෝගයකි. පාරම්පරිකව වගාකරන ලද දඹල ප්‍රභේදවලින් අස්වනු ලබාගත හැකිවූයේ මහ කන්නයේදී පමණකි. එයට හේතුව එම ප්‍රභේදවල මල් පිපීම සඳහා කෙටි දිවා කාල තිබිය යුතුවූ නිසාය. නමුත් වර්තමානයේදී වසර පුරාම වගාකර අස්වනු ලබාගත හැකි නව ප්‍රභේද බිහිකර තිබේ. පස හොඳින් ජලය බැසයන, කාබනික ද්‍රව්යෙඅ මැනවින් අඩංගු වැලි ලෝම් සහ මැටි ලෝම් පස් වගාව සඳහා වඩා සුදුසුය. නමුත් වැලි සහිත පස්වල මෙන්ම මැටි අධික පස් වලද වගා කළ හැකි භෝගයකි. බීජ අවශ්‍යතාවය හෙක්ටයාරයකට කිලෝග්‍රෑම් 21 - 23 කි. බිම් සැකසීම ගැඹුරට බිම පෙරළා පොඩිකර ගන්න. ඉඩමෙහි ජලය රඳා සිටීමේ අවදානමක් පවතීනම් උස් පාත්ති හෝ වැටි හා කානු ආකාරයට ඉඩම සකස්කර ගන්න. වගා පිළිවෙත් පරතරය පේලි අතර සෙන්ටිමීටර් 75 සහ පැළ අතර සෙන්ටිමීටර් 60 කි. වගා කාලය වර්ෂා කාලය ආරම්භයත් සමඟ බීජ සිටුවන්න. එක් වලක බීජ 2-3 පමණ සිටුවිය යුතුය. පොහොර යෙදීම හොඳින් දිරාපත් වූ කාබනික පොහොර, හෙක්ටයාරයට ටොන් 10 ක් වන සේ සකසාගත් වලවල්වලට යොදා පස් සමඟ හොඳින් කළවම් කරගන්න. මෙයට අමතරව පහත රූපයේ සඳහන් ආකාරයට රසායනික පොහොර ද වගාවට ලබාදෙන්න. ආධාරක සිටුවීම වලවල් අසලින් සිටුවාගත් අඩි 7 ක් පමණ උස ආධාරක කණු වෙත වැල් පුහුණු කරන්න. ජල සම්පාදනය වියළි කාලගුණික තත්ත්වයක් පවතින අවස්ථාවල දී සතියකට වරක් පමණ බැගින් වගාවට ජලය සපයන්න. වැලි අධික පස් සහිත ඉඩම්වල වගාකර ඇතිවිට මෙයට වඩා අඩු කාල පරතරයකින් ජලය.
