In this video, I take you to Aerolíneas Argentinas' Hangar 5 to see the deep structural check (C-Check) of one of its largest aircraft, an Airbus A330. I show you the entire process: from the crew rest area (where they sleep on long flights) to how the mechanics have to remove the floors to check for corrosion, which is part of the mandatory six-year check. I was even allowed to interview the mechanics, who explained their work in the aircraft's "wet areas," such as the bathrooms and galleys. I also take you to the CEFEPRA Training Center, where I saw the A330 simulator in action and a training module on an old Boeing 737-200. Finally, I explain the fascinating process of "fuel dumping," or ejecting fuel in an emergency. All of this is the "behind-the-scenes" that keeps these aircraft flying safely for many years.
