1966 was a year of the Year of the Horse (Hinoeuma), which occurs once every 60 years. In 2006, when artists born that year reached their "unlucky year" of 40, the live event "ROOTS66 - DON'T TRUST OVER 40" was born with the idea that "it is in this unlucky year that we should take big action to ward off bad luck." Ten years later, in 2016, the performers, now 50 years old, performed again at Osaka-jo Hall and Nippon Budokan. It was also held in Sendai, marking the fifth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and attracted a lot of attention.
