SRV Ballarat Heitage Festival Steam Shuttles

In Late May 2026 Steam rail their annual Ballarat Heritage Festival steam shuttles This Video covers Y112's transfer to Ballarat, the Shuttles ran on the Sunday and the evening transfer back to Melbourne. this would Y112s first time returning back to Ballarat after having new wheels turned and a minor mechanical overhaul completed. A week before the Shuttles, Y 112 would run with a short train to Ballarat so as to be prepared and ready for the shuttles the following weekend. starting at Sommerville road, where the train needed to slow down then power up the minor grade, it was then to Sunshine where after joining the mainline to Ballarat, the Y would then charge away after passing under Andersons Road, it was then to Troupes Rd North, where it was expected to a closer shot but it would be roughly near where the Y would run into mechanical issues resulting in a very slowed pace to Melton where it would rest for 3 hours while waiting for a part to be fitted. After departing Melton, the train would make it as far as Maddingly due to service disruptions in Ballarat. Jumping to a week forward Y112 has teamed up with K183 to run Shuttles between Ballarat and Yendon with many shots focusing on both engines working hard. after running the Shuttles, K183 and A2 986 would get busy preparing the train for the evening run back to Melbourne with K183 leading and A2 986 backing on the rear of the train. After making a spectacular sound show climbing Warrenheip bank, the train would then make a spirited run to Geelong, where after navigating north Geelong, the video would out with the train charging by at Corio as they head the final leg of the run to Melbourne
