To determine this, we can use a multimeter/avometer to measure the resistance (ohms) of each wire coming out of the dynamo. There are usually three wires, which are the output wires from the main coil and the starter. The rule of thumb is: the lowest resistance is the main coil wire; the highest resistance is the main coil wire plus the starter coil; the medium resistance is the starter coil. A capacitor (electrolytic capacitor) is installed in the path between the main coil and the starter.
