She by KISS (Guitar & Bass Lesson) Let's Play! by Have Guitar! Time for another guitar lesson and this time I've picked out She by KISS, from the album 'Dressed To Kill' released 19th of March 1975. So, as usual I will include lessons for rhythm guitar, bass and lead guitar - and this time I will try get the tab's right too! This song is a slow and heavy rock classic written by Gene Simmons and Stephen Coronel, actually while they still were in the band 'Bullfrog Bheer' - pre-KISS. The song was originally called "She walks by moonlight" after a line in the movie "Hondo" (see link below!). The song was also a part of Wicked Lester's repertoire but the KISS version is longer and lacks some odd instruments like the congas from Wicked Lesters recording. The recording you can hear in my video is originally from a project I started in 2009, where I recorded the full 'Dress To Kill' album. Why?! Because I had just picked up the guitar after a long break and I just needed something to motivate me playing... As I write I have a singer to do the vocals, so I guess that will be released as a cover video here. Those drums are from a MIDI file I found online as I am too lazy to do the programming myself (I might have edited a bit in a couple of parts that was exceptionally bad) and the guitars are all me. I believe the rhythm part was recorded with a Line 6 POD XT, a little bit too heavy sounding perhaps but I decided they are good enough to keep. The lead parts was re-recorded just now as the old ones wasn't up to par, it's played through my Kemper with a profile from Live Ready Sound's 79 Mini Bender profile pack. The bass (on my track) is played by Björn 'Burnie' Öman, a fantastic bass player who's sadly not with us anymore. And that's it, I hope you get some use for this lesson!
