Cancer of the bladder is the fourth most common cancer among men and is in the top 10 most common cancers among women in the United States. The most common type of bladder cancer is called urothelial carcinoma. It can begin in the bladder, the renal pelvis (where the ureter meets the kidney), the ureter or the urethra.
