OUR ISLAND OUR HOME
Theodora Moorehead and Crystal Fortwangler’s Our Island, Our Home is a short documentary centered on the legacy of former Virgin Islands Senator Theovald Moorehead and the ongoing struggle of St. Johnians to preserve ancestral land, culture, and community in the face of tourism-driven displacement and gentrification. The film connects Moorehead’s warnings about development and the Virgin Islands National Park to present-day concerns about housing, belonging, cultural erosion, and self-determination in St. John and the wider Caribbean.
