Ep 17 - Planking (part 1): Garboards + Lining off

In this episode, I give a synopsis of the planking process along with details on how we installed the garboard planks on the Newfoundland Trap Skiff. This is followed by an in-depth discussion on the lining off of the hull which determines where all the planks following the garboards will land. Corrections: when discussing the division process, I erroneously remark that the result would be “irrational”. Technically this is not the case, however, even though in a strict mathematical sense the result IS “rational” it is nevertheless often not representable in the standard imperial scale. This would be true in the metric system as well. Therefore use of a division board is advisable.
