The heatwave was in full swing, with temperatures nearing 40°C near my home. So, I made a last-minute decision: to seek some respite from the heat in a completely different region of France. Off to Hauts-de-France, very close to the Franco-Belgian border! I took the opportunity to visit my sister, then set off to discover the magnificent French Flanders on a short road trip along the famous Route des Monts (Hill Route). From Cassel to Bailleul, passing by Mont des Cats and Mont Noir, which straddles the border between France and Belgium, I'll take you on a journey through rolling landscapes, charming villages, and a region that's truly worth exploring.
