Fascinating footage of final days inside lost Liverpool factory
Fascinating footage captured the final days inside a famous Liverpool factory 45 years ago. For decades, Meccano was one of the city's most well-known and thriving factories, employing generations. It was Frank Hornby, born in Copperas Hill, who invented the popular Meccano and Dinky Toys, as well as founding the model railway company which still bears his name over 100 years ago. In the early 1900s., Hornby began to manufacture his own parts in a small one-room factory at 10-12 Duke Street, later taking on premises in Tuebrook. As the business grew, he bought up five-acres of land in the Old Swan area of Liverpool and the Binns Road factory opened in 1914, becoming the company headquarters for more than 60 years. #liverpoolecho #nostalgia #meccano READ MORE: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/...
