El Río Alagón y Su Caprichosa Forma del Meandro del Melero

We approach the town of Riomalo de Abajo to take the Verea de los Pescadores and thus begin the route to the Meandro del Melero. Riomalo de Abajo is a town in the north of Extremadura in the province of Cáceres located a few meters from the province of Salamanca, already in Castilla y León. The route takes us to an ascending cemented track that will open views of the Alagón River Valley as we gain altitude. In just over 2 kilometers we begin to obtain great panoramic views of the capricious shape that the Alagón describes in the orography. From the Mirador de La Antigua there are good views of the meander although we descend a little further to get a better look at its western end. Immediately afterwards we headed to the Barranco de la Antigua to descend through it and connect with the path along the Curva de Herradura. Here we can go down to the very edge of the meander whose flow volume depends on the level of the Gabriel y Galán Reservoir.
