Overwhelmed by the World? Here's What the Upanishads Say
Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the world. And sometimes we lose sight of our own self. How can we be both master of the world, and also companion of the Self? Donald Lambie quotes Shri Shantananda Sarasvati who said that it was possible to be master of the world and companion of the Self simultaneously. He examines the Taittiriya Upanishad which addresses this matter. How can we be a companion of the Self? The Upanishad says: speak the truth, practise dharma, make no mistake about study, do not neglect propitious activities, and do not be careless about learning and teaching. Each of these injunctions is examined in turn. This talk was recorded in Melbourne in October 2022. For more information about the Melbourne School of Philosophy.
