"Ce qui est hypocrite, c’est que c’est un moyen déguisé de redonner du pouvoir d’achat..."
This is a bill proposed by Éric Pauget, a member of parliament from the Alpes-Maritimes region. It aims to allow for the monetization of unused paid leave, particularly the fifth week of vacation. Currently, employers are not obligated to pay for unused vacation days during the employment contract, unless they have prevented the employee from taking them. According to a Verian study, 20% of French people do not use all of their paid leave. 15% take only half, and 5% take no days at all. Several reasons explain this situation: 23% of respondents stated that they do not go on vacation due to a lack of financial resources, preferring to continue working. 20% prefer to save their vacation days to deal with unforeseen personal circumstances. Others cite an excessive workload that prevents them from taking all of their vacation days. 00:00 Would you like to be paid for vacation days you don't take? 02:11 Emmanuel de Villiers: "The current situation is already quite favorable since, if the employer agrees, a lot of vacation time is paid." 03:46 Joëlle Dago-Serry: "I wholeheartedly applaud this proposal. I don't think it costs money because we have a productivity problem in France." 06:09 Didier Giraud: "There are 20% of people who consider their job more important than their paid vacation. Those 20% will never give you any trouble about it. On the other hand, there are the 80% who are really pushing the limits of sick leave." 8:00 Joëlle Dago-Serry: "But why don't you think about wealth creation? It's because of you that France isn't moving forward, because as soon as we want to take a step towards wealth creation, we absolutely mustn't touch that." 13:05 Listener: "I'm not someone who takes paid leave... paid leave is expensive, taking vacations is expensive." 🎙 Les Grandes Gueules is the talk show for freedom of expression, hosted by the duo Alain Marschall and Olivier Truchot.
