We threw the Cross into the frozen Aoos River. The celebration of Epiphany concluded in Konitsa with the Blessing of the Waters in the Aoos River, under the stone bridge. While the psalms echoed in the ravine, the people waited for the moment when the Cross would fall into the cold river (6°C) and the brave swimmers would dive in to catch it. And that is exactly what happened in a stunning landscape under the arched stone bridge, on one side the Cross rising and on the other a kayak swimming alongside, in the gurgling waters. "Theophany is a major annual Christian feast of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. It is celebrated on January 6 and is the third and final feast of the Twelve Days (Christmas holidays).
