In 2002, New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Keiji Muto transferred to All Japan Pro-Wrestling and subsequently became its president. Muto's actions were sudden and puzzling, but in fact, there was a mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes. In June 2000, Misawa and other wrestlers and front office staff left All Japan Pro-Wrestling for Noah, resulting in a mass exodus. On August 1st of that year, they entered a K-1 venue to compete against the "K-1 Army," but Fujita was defeated by Mirko Cro Cop. On New Year's Eve of the same year, an even larger group of wrestlers was held, and Tadao Yasuda pulled off a tearful upset by defeating Jerome Le Banner. Inoki was pushing for a martial arts approach, determined to prove that professional wrestling was the strongest. Meanwhile, the professional wrestling world was also beginning to crumble from within. In December 2001, a tell-all book by former New Japan Pro Wrestling referee Mr. Takahashi was published. The following year, a second volume of the book was released.
