RNAV Standard Instrument Departures (SIDS) Background

The FAA uses Performance Based Navigation (PBN) to manage departure, en route, and arrival traffic in the nation's airspace system. As part of PBN, the FAA uses Area Navigation (RNAV) Standard Instrument Departures (SIDS) to direct departure traffic. This video will look at the modernization of the nation's airspace, and the use of RNAV SIDS and Vector RNAV SIDS to direct departure traffic at airports nationwide.
