Carlos Hidalgo- Energía de fusión para la sociedad

Nuclear fusion promises a massive, safe, and sustainable energy source, but turning that promise into a reality for society requires overcoming significant scientific and technological challenges. These include controlling nuclear reactions that occur under extreme conditions, developing materials capable of withstanding them, and integrating technically and economically viable systems. This talk will analyze the progress made and the remaining challenges in making fusion energy a reality for society. Carlos Hidalgo holds a PhD in Physical Sciences and is an Emeritus Research Professor at the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT). Until 2026, he directed the National Fusion Laboratory, a leading unit responsible for promoting research in the science and technology of nuclear fusion as a massive and sustainable energy source.
