Local Anesthesia | Maximum Recommended Dose and Dosage Calculation

In this lecture, I have discussed on how to calculate the maximum recommended dose of local anesthetic Or in other words, how to calculate the dosage of a local anesthetic to be administered in a patient. Maximum recommended dose ( MRD) is defined as that dose of an agent that can be safely administered in majority of the patient without facing the harmful effects of overdose. Every local anesthetic agent that is being used in the world has a specific maximum recommended dose (MRD) , suggested by FDA. This maximum recommended dose is expressed in milligrams per kilogram or milligrams per pound of body weight. To understand on how to make the calculations of dosage of local anesthesia, I have first discussed on the amount of actual drug present in a single cartilage of local anesthetic. Furthermore, I have given examples to explain on how to calculate the amount of cartridges that can be safely administered in any patient.
