The Simplon Rail Tunnel - Car Transporter Train

The full journey from Iselle di Trasquera (VB), Italy to Brig (VS), Switzerland on the BLS Car Transporter service through the 19.8 km Simplon Rail Tunnel. Fully completed in 1921, the tunnel held the record for being the longest railway tunnel in the world until 1982 when the Daishimizu Tunnel in Japan was opened. It is one of the most important trans-Alpine rail routes together with the Gotthard and Fréjus tunnels.
