ON TEST: THE KENWOOD TS-50 RADIO This is a small radio (weighing about 4 kg) manufactured and marketed by Kenwood starting in 1993; it was produced for a few years, well into the mid-1990s. It was a radio from Kenwood's most exciting era and was part of the TS-50, TS-450, TS-850, and TS-950 group, notable representatives of a prolific and interesting era. The owner had left the radio with the antenna connected, forgetting to unplug it. A subsequent thunderstorm caused a lightning strike that traveled through the small radio from the power outlet to the antenna, destroying everything in its path.
